7 miles in a lengthy 82 minutes...

It was hot though and I hadn't run in a week and i stopped for water at several places... so it was goood, all in all. And i enjoyed myself, which was nice...

but also there were some other complications...

Wow I had a terrible swim that day. My breathing never felt right... I always felt out of breath and like i had to burp and had reflux. It was kind of awful.

Saturday 7/28/07: Running!
Ran with running partner Allison. We were supposed to do 6.5 miles but I completely misunderstood her email and thought she wanted to run starting anytime between 9:30 and 10:30, when she really wanted to run from 9:30-10:30. So we ended up running 4 miles. It was definitely faster than I have been running on my own though, we did it in 37 minutes. It was nice to run with a partner and I'm always amazed at how much more I'll push myself when there's someone with me.

Sunday 7/29/07: Biking!
29 miles! I did the Goodman Park route with Shawn and [profile] corydoras. I rode for 2 hours and 6 minutes. (not counting the rest stop for a granola bar and water chugging). The longest ride I have done to date. It was a lot of fun and I think I did pretty well. I need to be more vigilant about getting out on the bike.

So overall it was a really good few days of being active. On the downside I seemed to have issues breathing the entire time. I'm not sure if i was just tired on friday, and wasnt used to talking and running fast on saturday, and getting used to a new activity on sunday, or if its indicative of some bigger issue.

Also I think I've decided i'm not going to do a tri this summer. I've been really enjoying just being active and being outside in the sunshine and I'm not sure I'd enjoy the pressure and stress an event would add at this point. I was overly harsh with myself during the half marathon training and am wary of that. Plus, my anxiety over swimming in a lake hasn't really dissipated. I haven't practiced in open water yet (thought i'd still like to go some time [profile] corydoras) and I'm really just not feeling it. I might decide last minute to do the devil's lake tri, which is in september sometime and apparently the swim is in not very deep water and completely parallel to the shoreline. We'll see.

I know I probably should've gone running or biked, but I felt like getting into the pool.
I had a short workout (just under half an hour), but doing reps really makes me feel like I really got a workout.

50 kick
50 free
50 back
100 free
100 back
2 x 100 @ 2:30
50 pull
2 x 100 @ 2:30
50 pull
50 kick

total yardage: 900

I made the 2:30's with 10-15 seconds to spare. That felt pretty good. I'm not sure i could've done four in a row though.

100 back

It was a really really good run. the first 1.5 miles my knee hurt hurt hurt. It was either related to all the lifting and other moving activities that occurred yesterday or the annoyance that is starting my runs with a painfully steep downhill.

It felt realy good though and I enjoyed it.
And after much couch moving drama all my shit is moved in!

Good god the physicist and i have a lot of furniture when combined. We keep looking at empty walls and saying things like, can we fit a book shelf there? what about a chair?

Went on vacation with the physicist (+ his fam) to alaska. (yes second alaskan cruise in as many years). It was wonderful and beautiful and totally relaxing. I'm never taking work with me on vacation again.

I've exercised since being back, but have failed to blog about it... eh well. Another ljfriend of mine has started doing an exercise log and I've found that its really motivating but also some times guilt inducing. interesting...

Now I'm back and the plan is to put the "moving in" plan into gear. So today I'm spending all day packing up my old room, with hopes to reward myself with a short run afterwards. I have to say though, its hot as balls today.

You should all be good friends and entertain me while i pack.

Yesterday I went for a bike ride, the same route i did on may 11 with [livejournal.com profile] superwombatgirl. Seemed to take an hour exactly, which i think was about 15 minutes faster than last time. It was good.

Yesterday (of course) 3 miles.
This was way better than sunday's run. My knees would start to hurt a little but then I'd concentrate on my posture, and pulling in my abs and the pain would go away. yay!
also it was fun!
